hoary much slower the warty?

hi!

yesterday i updated my notebook (toshiba tecra 8000, 266mhz, 256mb ram) 
from warty to hoary and i noticed that hoary is pretty slower in 
opposite to warty. now i want to know if you guys have the same 
"problem". maybe i did something wrong?!?
i mean everything works pretty good without doing anything but its so 
slow. maybe its better to reinstall warty or is there a way that hoary 
will run "faster" when it becomes more "stable"... its still in 
development... i know...

btw: i use gnome as desktop. with warty no problem. i know that there 
are smaller ones like xfce and so on but i like gnome :-) maybe xorg 
needs more "power" than xfree? any ideas?
