oh well, for arguments sake, suppose I do not know about monitor refresh
rates and use my cdrom holder as a coffee cup, I add a new monitor (with
help from the manual :)), Ubuntu would not auto probe again, thus I'm
left with my originally installed XF86Config (thus it is wrong for that
monitor) and this could potentionally blow up my nice shiny new monitor.
I personaly do not have a problem manually rebuilding this or adding the
required refresh rates (I change my monitor, only when the wife lets me,
thus once every 10 years or if I really NEED to :))
But if Ubuntu if trying to give to just use impression (and generally
it's pretty good at this), this would have to be sorted, as IMHO things
now for GNU/Linux should really be able to easily handle things like
this, without needing to reinstall/remove packages.
