totem-xine install removes ubuntu-desktop

Hi all,
I was following the FAQ for restricted formats to setup totem to play
MPEG files. When I go to install totem-xine in Synaptic, it removes
totem-gstreamer and ubunutu-desktop. I'm new to Debian package
management (coming from Gentoo) and removing ubuntu-desktop scares me a
little bit. Everything seems to work after the totem-xine install. Do
I have anything to worry about? Am I going to have problems with ubuntu
upgrades?
Thanks
Side notes:
1.) Really enjoying Ubuntu. A lot quicker to get going and to work with
than Gentoo. Watching a package install in mere seconds is a bit mind
boggling.
2.) I *think* I am having withdrawal symptoms from KDE 3.3. I've never
really used gnome before and am having a little trouble adjusting to it.
3.) I'd like to see ndiswrapper-utils added to the install CD, as for
some people, the package needs to be installed before they can get
internet access.
4.) I like the human theme. ;-)
Thanks again,
Todd Maynard
