cannot login

Greetings,

I've had a few problems with logging in over the last day or two.
The problem previously has been a .ICEauthority problem which I can deal
with. This evening a new problem has appeared. I get a message along the
lines of:
Cannot open some file to write to, this may mean your home folder is
full or there is some other problem. Either way I cannot login. Please
contact your sys admin.

I cannot login using a failsafe terminal or any other of the options
available.
I am stuck.
Any ideas???
