Ubuntu will not install

I've seen this before in other distros, where a package couldn't be
found, but it appeared to be on the disk.

Usually, it WAS due to a bad image. 

The fact that Mighty Mik is the only person that seems to be having
this problem supports that theory.

Did you check the md5sum before burning? If it passed, perhaps the
burn was bad...maybe there's a hardware problem...
