Jerky kbd and mouse

This is a fairly minor annoyance (enough so that I haven't bothered to
mention it before, but it's a slow day), but I'm using KDE from
Universe on Warty and about every 15 seconds the mouse cursor will
blink out and immediately re-appear.
If this happens while the mouse is being used, it will cause a skip or
jerk in the mouse action.
If I'm typing a letter at the exact moment the mouse cursor blinks, that
letter will be repeated, so the keyboard is also apparently involved
in this.
I'm using a Logitech wireless keyboard and mouse.
This problem does not appear in Windows on this machine, and has not
appeared in other Linux distros on this machinee.
I'm running Debian Sid at home with the exact same model of Logitech
keyboard and mouse and the problem doesn't happen there either.
Nothing alarming appears in the X log, however, there are these unusual
(I haven't seen them on any other system, at least) messages, which
unfortunately are not timestamped:
SetClientVersion: 0 8
SetGrabKeysState - disabled
SetGrabKeysState - enabled
Googling that hasn't given me anything conclusive.
The hardware is a Dell Optiplex, Intel mobo with I81x chipset. Here's
my XF86Config-4:
# XF86Config-4 (XFree86 X Window System server configuration file)
