Try moving ~/.mozilla/firefox to somewhere safe (to keep your
bookmarks etc.) and running Firefox.  If everything's fine then there
was a problem in your users settings.  You can then copy back the
bookmarks.html to restore your original bookmarks - but you will lose
any other settings this way, extensions etc.
