In the interest of pushing out, as soon as possible, a fixed version of
the xfdesktop4 package, I've delayed changing the default background
image (it will be changed to a more distro-neutral image per Oliver's
hints).

The good news is:

 xfdesktop (4.3.6.4-1ubuntu2) hoary; urgency=low
 .
   * Pass -Wl,-E to the compiler to fix the undefined quit symbol that
     broke the root menu.

Fixed and uploaded.  Binaries should be available within 3 hours.
