My laptop's still debian, but I've had similar problems from time to
time. What I've had to do is this:
sudo ifdown eth1
sudo modprobe -r orinoco_pci
sudo modprobe orinoco_pci
sudo ifup eth1
wash
rinse
repeat (sometimes 2 or 3 times)
