Gnome or KDE?

You probably want to download a copy of one of the live distros, like
kubuntu, or mepis, as these use kde. That way you can try it out and
see what you wnat for yourself.  I used kde for years on linux distros,
as it was a bit more like windows.  But I have since begun using gnome. 
I like the simplicity and since version 2.10, it has become a sweet
desktop without the bloat of kde.
