samba swat login problem

Hi Dave !
I've posted the same issue some weeks ago with no useful response.
What I've done to solve this was that I enabled the root password using
'passwd root'. After that I was able to login to swat as root.
Actually I'm still seeking a solution that doesn't break ubuntu's concept...
