I can't seem to build pine on ubuntu the saga: now it's cc errors??

In many cases this is true, installing a package in Ubuntu that's
compiled for Debian can lead to problems and should be avoided. But
there's not all that much to Pine to begin with, so I took my chances.
I didn't just install it, I actually used it. It seemed to work fine.
Although Pine isn't my cup-o-tea to begin with.
No matter, it seems you've found success in compiling from source.
