Getting sound to work with an EMU APS soundcard

I'm a bit of a linux noobie but don't be scared to get technical :)

I have the same problem as the other posters in this thread and would
be greatful for any help on this.

The Emu is recognised as a Creative card on many occasions in older
windows programs, maybe that's where the problem lies as it's
essentialy a highly modified Audigy and Ubuntu/Gnome(noob :confused: )
is detecting it as such.
