USB headsets : can't get the mic to work ...

It's in the volume control panel. I noticed that there were TWO devices
related to USB: "Logitech USB Headset (ALSA mixer)" which has all the
controls on it, but there is also one called "USB Mixer (OSS Mixer)",
which has nothing but a microphone slider on it... and it was all the
way DOWN. I turned it up, then switched back to the other (more
complete) USB device.  I don't understand why there were two controls
for the mic, go figure...

The headset is not working 100% though: when I press the +/- buttons on
the remote control, a little progress bar pops up on the screen and
moves as I operate the remote control, but the volume doesn't actually
change, nor does the "Speaker" volume slider move.
I will file a bug about this.
