installing applications

I share the same thoughts and experience as you Douglas. It is extremely
irritating to see (not see as the case is) the applications you just
installed not appearing in the app/desktop menu. Only a number of
applications installed so far have managed to appear..namely,
gDesklets, gCDPlayer.

Surely there must be a way of having them included in the menu by
default?
