Well, it worked this time.  But the error messages are confusing.

Like last time, I still got the "Probing "%001%014"...  No device
found.".
Last time, the gnome-cups-manager subsequently didn't find any
printers.

But this time (after uninstalling and reinstalling hpoj and hpijs on
ubuntu 4.10/warty) the gnome-cups-manager did find the printer and it
seems to be working fine.

It still sounds like hplip would provide more features, and it is what
HP is supporting these days, so I hope it makes it into hoary.
