Nvidia-glx Won't Work on Hoary

What I did was; 
dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg
nvidia is one of the drivers in the list (presumably once you've
installed nvidia-glx) - if you pick nvidia rather than nv at this point
there's no need to edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf by hand
then
make sure /etc/modules has the line nvidia in it.
then
reboot/restart X
