Which SMC card are you using? I'm having pain with a SMC 2835W
(version 1, I think)
lspci -v gives me:
Intersil Corporation Instersil [Prism FT/Prism Duette] (rev 01)
Subsystem: Standard Microsystems Corp [SMC]: Unknown device 2835
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 80, IRQ 11
Memory at 11000000 (32-bit, non prefetchable)
Capabilities: [dc] Power Management version 1
dmesg is showing:
PCI: Enabling device 0000:06:00.0 (0000 -> 0002)
eth0: islpci_open()
eth0: resetting device
eth0: uploading firmware
eth0: firmware upload done, now triggering reset
eth0: no IPv6 routers present
Using: Ubuntu 4.10 on a Toshiba Satellite 1640
I can configure eth0 which is what the card shows up as in
iwconfig/ifconfig
and any of the network configuration tools that I've tried. It 'sees'
access points
i.e. their MAC address but I can't get any traffic out. I've tried on
APs with/without WEP
Thoughts and sympathy/empathy would be nice.
