I was wondering the same thing and I think the only reason that I can
come up with is that it obscures the details from the user...
For new users, this may be of importance - they don't care whether or
not the NTP service has sync'd correctly, but they are shielded from
it.
Personally, I'd prefer to see all the messages scrolling through, but
also appreciate that for some people this may be desirable.
