trouble reading from dvd

Hi Lowell,
you may need to install the libdvdcss2 library to decode encrypted dvds. 
This is available from ftp://ftp.nerim.net/debian-marillat/

You need to put the following in your /etc/apt/sources.list file:
    deb ftp://ftp.nerim.net/debian-marillat/ unstable main

And then go to synaptic, press reload (to load the new repository) and 
then search libdvd and you can select install the decoder. I've also 
found that for me the gstreamer files don't work with totem. I've 
installed xine and it works great.

The other file you may need are the DIVX decoders which include a lot of 
Windows specific files like MS MPGs etc.
