the option you need is noinotify. 
edit your /boot/grub/menu.1st file and add noinotify to the end of the
kernel line.

Alternatively booting from the 2.6.10-3 kernel still works fine and
can be used until the 10-4 kernel is fixed.

I understand that this is all related to the same problem - inotify
and its interaction with gamin... they are working hard on it so it
will be sorted redy for release date in  6 weeks time
