Ndiswrapper messed up?

I have unloaded (ndiswrapper -e) my DWL-G510 drivers, tried different
drivers, and the keyboard still goes wacky every time I try to bring
up the wlan0 interface, regardless of static IP or DHCP. Every few
keypresses, one is repeated several times as if stuck, but it's not a
consistent number. It also seems that typing VERY slowly prevents
this from happening, at least sometimes.
at any rate, bringing up a supposedly ndiswrapper-supported wireless
interface is rendering my machine unusable. Has anyone else
experienced this problem or one similar? What could be calling this?
I'd write the ndiswrapper people, but I'm not sure it's their problem
since they list the card as "working".
Is there some kernel I should try other than the stock ubuntu 2.6.10-4-686?
Is there any way to trace information about this problem? I can't
think of any way without compiling a new kernel with debugging turned
on, which may or may not fix the problem, and may or may not provide
new information about what's happening.
Please help- I am losing my mind!

Well, yes it is _something_ but since it's marked resolved and I
update daily, it doesn't really apply to the situation at hand.
