upgrade-notifier error after apt-get (dist-) upgrade

Sorry for my late reply. 

This is fixed with the latest upload of update-notifier. A conffile
was left over in /etc that caused the trouble. Unfortunately a normal
remove does not remove conffiles so you got those error messages.
