gdm: fails to login

Package: gdm
Version: 2.6.0.6-0ubuntu3
Severity: important

When I enter my username/password in the login-field, the field turns
grey. As it's verifying the password. But it keeps beying gray forever
and nothing else happens.

This way I'm unable to login trough gdm.

If you need any further info, please tell me ...

For what it's worth: it is not since this (2.6.0.6-0ubuntu3) version, but
it was like this since 'some' versions ago (not warty).
