Synaptic cannot find the package maxima

Hi all

I try to install the package 'maxima' but synaptic does not find it.
Synaptic shows the following maxima packages only:

maxima-doc
maxima-emacs
maxima-share
maxima-src
maxima-test

I own an iBook G4 12" (~ 3 month old) using warty. I did some internet
investigations and found out, that there is a maxima package for warty
(see link below).
http://higgs.djpig.de/ubuntu/www/warty/math/maxima

What could be the problem of 'my' synaptic? I have updated the package
data base! I have updated warty, so that the newest packages are
installed on my warty-box.

What strategy can I chose in oder to find out where the problem is?
