Ubuntu Desktop Looping?!

Are you sure that you've used the same user ID? Or the same user name?
A UID is a number and Linux uses the number for access, not the username.
The username is a simple mapping to the UID.
So the users in both Linux environments need the same UID to have access
to the home directory. The username can be different.
