Still unable to create launchers in GNOME menu

Excellent advice, Oli!  I managed to add 3 new launchers to the gnome
2.9 applications menu using your technique.

I simply dragged and dropped shortcuts I had made to the appropriate
directory (/home/[user]/.local/applications/), then used emacs in
split-screen mode to compare the new launchers to existing launchers in
the applications pulldown menu.  I discovered the difference in the
launchers was a "categories" entry.  Fill in the categories entry to
match that of a lancher in the desired subfolder and "viola!"

Works like a charm.

You ought to put this in the HOWTO section (or at least copy to the
Hoary forum), Oli!  THANX AGAIN!!
