Remember that the live CD runs from the cd drive, and so is very much
slower than a proper, to the-hard-drive, install. I've run it on a
266mhz/128mb laptop, and it was unusably slow, but worked fine (after
some tweaking) on installing it.
Extra memory never goes amiss, though.
