Thunderbird 1.0.2 (20050404) crashes when printing

Hi, everyone
Good to be back! Wading through hundreds of good posts!

Thunderbird 1.0.2 (20050404) under Hoary on a Compaq V4020US is suddenly 
crashing when I select Print or hit CTRL+P. Sometimes it waits until I 
get the print dialog, at others it crashes immediately on selecting the 
print button or hitting CTRL+P.

I can print from Open Office, Jedit and others just fine. The printer 
driver is CUPS Stylus CX3100, chosen from the default selections on 
Ubuntu's print setup. It's a USB printer.

Any thoughts anyone?
