Weird installation problem (freezing)

Hi,

thanks for the help.  I had already tried most of the options but after 
all it was a combination that worked (which I found out just by trying).
The right option was boot: linux acpi=off noapic nolapic
These options need to remain on even after installing for the system to 
work.

This is a rather weird system, right now I am facing a problem with the 
USB mouse (freezing and it needs disconnection and then connect again to 
work again). Some guys solved it by setting acpi off but I already have 
that. Oh well, I guess it's this new nForce4 that's causing all that. 
Until I find out, I use my good old serial mouse (I have it since my 
486DX and it still works -really!).

I'll appreciate any hints,
