Oh, right, it's not bad or anything but I tried connecting to all
kinds of databases. This because I'm seriously interested in a
database front-end environment that's free and allows rapid
development. So I played around connecting to MySQL and SQL Server
(MSDE). Acted a bit strange at times, and overall I did not get the
feeling that OO Base in version 2.0 would be a viable choice to
actually develop a database application in. You can just about do that
with Access Project (ADP) as a font-end to SQL Server or MSDE.

Basically, what I really like is something like Servoy.
(www.servoy.com or www.servoy.nl) It's not free, needless to say, but
seriously cool and easy to develop stuff in. (And it runs fine on
Ubuntu, both the client as well as the development environment and the
server)

To lower the cost of application programming I need something that's
very easy to learn and use, and works with a variety of databases.
(Any ideas? :-)

Cheers,
Chanchao
