start "the door" and "the gear" in command line

hello,

could someone tell me what is the command in the console :

a.) for logging out (to go to the screen, where to enter username and  
password) --> the door;

b.) for running the programm run: xyz (tool in the menu list) --> the gear;

sorry, my system runs in german, and it's hard to find the true expression!
