Recovering a damaged ext3 system, where to start?

I once fixed a serious problem in Warty with fsck and found a lot of my
stuff in lost+found directory afterwards. The system run perfectly after
the check was done. I started the check reading every question carefully
and thinking if I should awnser yes or no. Then I realized that I'm
going to sit there awnsering the questions still in the next morning if
I don't speed up the process. Soon I just kept pushing down the enter
button until the check was finished.
