Problem with boot after install

Hello,

I just installed Ubuntu on to my newly rebuilt machine. The install
seemingly went without a problem. But when I boot into the new install I
get errors. These attempts were with the both the 4.10 and the Array6
AMD64 editions.

My machine is a DFI LanParty UT nF3 250Gb motherboard, Athlon64 3000ghz
cpu, 1gb ram,120gb ide drive and or 250gb sata drive.

I've installed to both the ide drive and the sata drive. I got the
errors originally on the ide drive and thought the drive might be
failing so I robbed/borrowed a couple sata drives from another machine.

I have successfully installed Ubuntu many times. On my Opteron server
and on this machine prior to its previous motherboard failing.

The errors I am getting as best as I wrote down, I may have missed some
due to them flying by so fast, are:

Id "1" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
Id "2" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes
Id "3" respawning too fast: disabled for 5 minutes

cannot execute "/sbin/getty"
cannot execute "/bin/sh"

and when on the sata drive I am seeing something like this fly by:

nv_sata device added/removed
... over and over... for about 10-20times.

I can't try the ide drive as I installed Gentoo on it and it is what I
am writing from now. I would rather have Ubuntu if I can find out the
problem.

Oh, I am also initially getting some error which doesn't stop anything
but says something like:

agppart: aperture too small ...
          aperture (0mb)
          use immem....

In the bios I have my agp aperture set to 32mb, which is the smallest
setting. I may be butchering the error phrasing above. It doesn't stay
on my screen long.

Any help getting this install completed would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
