Hi,
I have a latest-Hoary system, upgraded from a Warty install. I am trying
to play OGG files with Rhythmbox and I get this error when I press Play:
Failed to write data to the esound daemon
Here's my sound card:
0000:00:1f.5 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corp. 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 03)
Appropriate ALSA modules seem to be loaded:
snd_intel8x0 32352 1
snd_ac97_codec 74144 1 snd_intel8x0
snd_pcm_oss 52132 0
snd_mixer_oss 19680 2 snd_pcm_oss
snd_pcm 94696 3 snd_intel8x0,snd_ac97_codec,snd_pcm_oss
snd_timer 25060 1 snd_pcm
snd 55012 6 snd_intel8x0,snd_ac97_codec,snd_pcm_oss,snd_mixer_oss,snd_pcm,snd_timer
soundcore 10016 2 snd
snd_page_alloc 9732 2 snd_intel8x0,snd_pcm
The polypaudio daemon is running as user "mary":
$ ps aux | grep polypaudio
mary 12670 0.0 0.6 4668 3212 ? S 08:09 0:00 /usr/bin/polypaudio
The gstreamer-properties dialog says that my "Default Sink" for audio is
the "ESD - Enlightenment Sound Daemon".
As best I understand it, these settings combined should allow rhythmbox
to play sound through the polypaudio daemon. What have I missed?
-Mary
