My only correction is that this system is more like the BSD ports system
than the apt/dpkg system.
Many people think that by using gentoo their system will run better
because it will be "optimized" for their hardware. I don't buy into
this - I have older computers so having to build every package I want
would be quite painful. If users really think that they'll get a boost
from compiling things themselves take a look at the 'apt-get source'
command.
