Is Linux a desktop operating system?

I never said that disqualifies Linux as a desktop environment. Don't put
word in my mouth.

Nobody ever said it was. There are many who feel that way but all I
said was that there are no Linux applications yet to handle what our
corporations needs so a switch to Linux can't be in the picture.

  AFAIK the apps used by broadcasting now weren't developed by the
broadcasters but by enterprising people and groups who used the old
formula for success.....find a need and fill it.
