Multi-function printers in Ubuntu

if anyone has gotten a Lexmark x73 working thru samba, (or any other way)
please let me know. Using the foomatic z42 drivers does not work in linux
when connected directly. the printer is the last thing that keeps windows
installed for me. (That and quicken)
