AMD64, galeon, and gconf

Hi,
Executive summary: how do I run 32 bit gnome apps, with a 64 bit gconf ?
I own an amd64 based laptop, mostly used for light desktop work, and the
occasional bout of programming.
For the light desktop work, I need a webbrowser, and since galeon works the
way I want it too, I use galeon. However, during the upgrade to
breezy, something has changed, causing galeon to occasionally crash, or fail
to display pages.
Since I'd also like to have flash, and javaplugins, I decided to install
galeon in my 32 bit chroot (I don't really need a 64-bit browser), and get
rid of the existing 64 bit install. Unfortunately... galeon seems to depend
on stuff stored in my 64 bit gconf daemon: If I remve the 64 bit galeon, the
32 bit doesn't work anymore.
The question: how do I solve this: Can I have a new 32 bit daemon around,
can I purge the existing 64 bit galeon traces from gconf, and if so, How ??
Suggestions are more than welcome.
TimT.
