I agree that the bug fixes are worth having.  My vote would be for
making an update available;  its just that in a similar situation there
turned out to be very problematic baggage along with the fixes.
OpenOffice.org, like Firefox, is very much a core app and any problems
there are salient for many people and can damage advocacy efforts badly.
