Partitions - LVM & RAID

When I try to configure software RAID with Breezy, with or without LVM,
I get a message "error informing the kernel about modifications to
partition" and suggesting that the partions will not be readbale until
reboot.  I am unable to get Ubuntu to install.  I have tried saving
partition cahnges and rebooting but this does not work either.

I have successfully installed Ubuntu several times on this computer
without RAID and with and without LVM.

Can anyone suggest a solution?
