printer setup problems

thanks Sven,
have posted the log on Linuxprinting.org, have been here before, was 
starting
to think that after 3years, (countless hours trying the cups lists and 
others without a single reply
 etc, know some Deb admins who tried,) that it was a rumor that printing 
could actually
be done with Linux, that it was little short of a miracle that the 
printer actually worked
when I first installed it. I even installed Hoary without Win98 on a 
partition (was using windows to print)
Now anything urgent is written to a CD if it's too big for a floppy, and 
transfered to my old 166 to print.

Personally I am going back to Hoary, it all just seemed to work, and 
will attack the problem from there.

I have 3 copies of the Official Ubuntu 5.10 left, have handed out 2, but 
don't feel confident
handing out the rest, as I  don't feel I have the necessary expertise to 
handle the problems that are likely
to come my way, so if there is anyone in the general Australasia area 
who would like
them I would be more than happy to mail them, if I have an address to 
forward them to.
