I'm still on the low end of the learning curve when it comes to ubuntu 
or linux so I could use
some help.

In  #1,  Do you  type xxx directly or does xxx mean something else?
In #3,  "sudo mount -tudf -orw,noexec,nosuid,nodev,user /dev/hdc 
/media/cdrom0".
     a brief explanation would be very useful.
