External Soundcard

Hi All:

I have HP DX6120 machines which has P4 3.0 ghz with 512 RAM.  It has
builtin Sound card.  I want to install a additional soundcard and want
both the soundcard to work together.  

Please suggest the make and model which is know good compatible with
Ubuntu 5.04 or Ubuntu 5.10 and any additional setting required to make
both soundcards work together.
