Hi,
I really new to Ubuntu and Linux. I've played with Mandrake 8.2, 9.1, had
the earlier version of Ubuntu installed on a laptop once.
My problem is I've installed Ubuntu on a home built PC with 6 30G hard
drives, Pentium 3 and 512MB memory a SCSI controller for the DVD drive and
CD-RW drive. Two Romtec Trios control which hard drive is booted. Each
Trios controls three drives.
I had no problem installing the software but after removing the CD and
rebooting, I get the message:
Uncopressing Linux... Ok, booting the kernel.
Loading, please wait...

ALERT! /dev/hda1 does not exists. Dropping to a shell!

I allowed Ubuntu to format and configure the hard drives the way it wanted
to. I've installed the same software on my laptop with no problems.
Thanks for your help
Ernie
