Clock runs fast in Ubuntu!?

This is a known issue with AMD processors and some kernels. Passing
the no_timer_check option to the kernel at boot time solved the
problem for me (2.6.13 kernel, AMD64 processor).

If that solution will work in your case, I am not sure. Do a search in
www.ubuntuforums.org, the issue has been discussed many times there.
