Printer help needed!

Is there a reason you need a seperate driver install?  Looking around it looks like that printer has decent Linux support, and thus may "Just work".  Have you tried adding the printer as a local and see if Ubuntu sees it?  I know Breezy just worked for me on my old Epson C82.
