Hi!

Can't tell how you can do it within Synaptic, I rarely use it, but from CLI it's
possible to do:

sudo apt-get -d install <package>

The switch '-d' tells apt-get to download only, not install or unpack the
package. Also works for aptitude.

I just couldn't make it work with packages that have already been installed.
Maybe someone wiser cuold tell how that is done.
