I presume Mark/Canonical sends everything from a single place, to keep
staff costs down ?
Maybe they could get us/the community involved in the ship-it process ?
This way the load would be spread evenly, shipping fees would be much
less as local. "LoCo" teams for example could maybe do that ?
This would dramatically cut costs down both staff (volunteers ! :-) and
shipment I think (only local/national !), as well as improve the service
for the end user: faster delivery, no duty problems, and less chances to
receive damaged packet or CD's !
Sure, they aren't loco teams everywhere, but maybe this system could be
at least experimented/valuated in a few places to start with ? Then as
Ubuntu's popularity grows, surely for Dapper Drake, there woud be loco
teams every where on the planet ! :o)
