I think it looks warm, inviting, and pleasantly living and organic, as
opposed to the sterile, artificial, mechanical look of most desktops.
The ones that aren't trying - and failing, badly - to look like rock
videos, anyway.
(I wouldn't mind rock-video GUIs if they were done well. The look and
feel of the original Star Trek computers, or of Wargames or Tron or...
well, even the video for Roxette's /Almost Unreal/ from 1993.

Not a great song but an inoffensive bit of 90s soft rock, but if you
don't like that, turn the sound off & watch the SFX. Shiny! All right,
not terribly practical, but /interesting/ and /new./
I'm hoping that the coming wave of OpenGL & hardware 3D-accelerated
desktops prompts a new wave of innovation in GUI design, because we've
been stuck in a rut for some 20 years now.
